ICanserve Foundation Launches Pink October
Advocacy group ICanServe Foundation Inc. has launched their series of activities this month of October.
The foundation observes the month of October as the breast cancer awareness month also known as “Pink October”.
Pink October is one of the many ways to recognize people with breast cancers and it is represented through a pink ribbon.
ICanserve’s advocacy is to conduct research on potential countermeasures and to treat breast cancer.
ICanServe Cebu Coordinator Mary Anne Solomon strongly suggests that people should consult an expert as soon as possible for them to know if they have develop breast cancer or none. Consulting a medical expert ahead of time will give the doctor and the patient a chance to fully manipulate the disease and fight it off.
Solomon also added that most people think that only women suffer from breast cancer and admitted that there are also various male patients diagnosed with the said disease.
Meanwhile, ICanServe will have a breast cancer screening at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.
The said screening is open to all and will be held every Fridays and Saturdays starting on October 11 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Aside from free screening, there are also other activities that have been prepared like distribution of free medicines to patients.
Solomon added that eating healthy is one of the most important things to consider if a person wants to avoid breast cancer or any kind of cancer. Exercise also plays a big role to live a healthy life and a cancer-free body.
ICanServe will also feature various zumba sessions, fun run and aerodance in the month of October.
ICanServe Cebu gave their utmost gratitude to the local government of Mandaue City for supporting them in the last 4 years.
ICanServe is an advocacy group for early breast cancer detection through regular breast self-examination, clinical breast examination and mammography. It provides hope, help and information to women and men diagnosed with breast cancer. (MLC)
