The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) in partnership with Globe Business recently held the 2nd IT-BPM Cybersecurity Summit to help the Philippines in its fight against various online threats such as the Wannacry ransomware which has infected more than 200,000 organizations in 150 countries.

Attended by more than 200 executives from 150 IT-BPM companies, the 2nd IT-BPM Cybersecurity Summit featured the theme “Enhancing capabilities to combat evolving cyber threats”. The summit reinforced one of the primary missions of IBPAP, which is to contribute to the enhancement of security and resiliency of not only IT-BPM companies, but also the IT infrastructure that the industry depends on.

At present, businesses are often faced with the dilemma of juggling multiple requirements simultaneously, thus, more often than not, data protection takes a back seat. This scenario however, exposes enterprises and their clients to threats such as viruses, service disruption, identity theft, and many more.

“The frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks and breaches are on the increase across all industries. Hence, it is imperative for businesses to stay one step ahead of such cyber threats. Together with IBPAP, we will help Philippine companies protect their assets and customers in order to safeguard their reputation against cybercrime,” notes Globe Business Senior Advisor Mike Frausing.

“We would like to thank Globe Business for helping us reinforce our fight against cyber threats. It truly is apt to have further discussions regarding this issue as we set our sights towards accelerating the growth of the Philippine IT-BPM industry. I am most certainly sure that once we leverage on this service, the industry will continue to expand market share while moving up in complexity and value of its capabilities,” said IBPAP Executive Director for External Affairs Genny Marcial.

Globe Business aims to provide businesses, specifically those in the IT-BPM industry, with a roster of Managed Security Services that will ensure coverage in areas such as Vulnerability Assessment, Network Security, Application Security and Content Security, Endpoint Security and Access Control, and Security Management. These solutions help enable Philippine enterprises to fight cybercrime, protect data and reduce security risks.

Recently, Globe also launched its newly operationalized Advanced Security Operations Center (ASOC) powered by Trustwave. It is a state-of- the-art facility that houses the infrastructure and teams which deliver services such as customer service platform management, threat detection, threat hunting, and incident response for both Globe’s network and the network of its customers.
