‘Hybrid Electric Train’ to Offer Free Ride Starting May 6
Good news! Starting May 6, train passengers will have the chance to ride the first Filipino-made Hybrid Electric Train (HET).
According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the passengers will have free train rides for 19 days as the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will have to complete the 150-hour run time for the train, which will run the Alabang-Biñan route.
The Hybrid Electric Train is 100 percent locally-made train developed by DOST’s Metal Industry Research and Development Center (DOST MIRDC). It is envisioned to be a long-term solution to traffic in the metropolis. (PIA InfoComm/DOST)
