Hundreds Avail Services In Capitol Site
“Maayo ni ang gibuhat ni Mayor Mike Rama kay natabangan gyod ang mga katawhan sa ilang mga gikinahanglan nga dili na mahasol pa pag-adto sa Cebu City Hall,” thus said Lolo Rodulfo Antig, 72, who was among the hundreds of residents of Barangay Capitol Site who availed of the free services during the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” held this morning February 19, 2016 Friday at the grounds beside their barangay hall.
In an interview with the BARUGG News, Antig who is the president of the city’s United Senior Citizens Association and availed of the medical consultation further underscored that the activity must be regularly conducted as it is of great hep to the people especially the less fortunate.
For Susan Tomilap, 30 who brought her 1 year old son and also availed of the medical consultation she stressed, “Nagpasalamat gyod ko nga natabangan mi kay lisod baya ang panahon karon kulangon ta sa budget palit ug tambal kung masakit, maayo ni kay libre na ang pacheck-up naa pay libreng tambal.”
The beneficiaries availed the various basic services from the 22 departments of the city government here which served as a one-stop shop with avail-all-services-you-can system on a first-come first served basis.
Meanwhile, the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” is an initiative of Mayor Rama launched in 2010 and already institutionalized. It is conducted twice in a week already in line with the commitment of the Rama administration to bring the city government services closer to the people sans going to the different offices in Cebu City Hall.
Dubbed as “Feast of Free Services” the community outreach program is continuously extending helping hands to the Cebuanos right at their doorstep.
Though the activity is not something new to the residents of Barangay Capitol Site, still hundreds flocked to the venue to avail of the services. The barangay is one of the 80 villages comprising this city. It has 17,843 residents living in at least 18 Sitios. It is situated in the city’s North District and about15 to 20 minutes (taking a public utility jeepney) away from the Cebu City Hall.
Today’s frontline services kicked off with a Holy Mass officiated by Father Ralph Argoncillo from Capitol Parish. In his homily he encouraged everyone to have long patience, love and understanding.
The all-out support of everyone concerned wrapped-up the success of the city’s community outreach program. It ended right after everyone were served. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
