HPG Deploys 695 Cops for Undas
Two days before the annual observance of Undas, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) deployed a total of 695 personnel in cemeteries and transportation hubs nationwide to provide assistance to motorists and ensure smooth traffic along major thoroughfares.
HPG acting director, Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos said 360 personnel were deployed in cemeteries, 260 in patrol bus terminals, 26 in train stations, 34 in seaports and 15 in airports.
“We are deploying them to provide motorist assistance in the national highways. As for our efforts on the national level, we will be deploying our available personnel to look at the flow of exodus of the public from Metro Manila going to provinces,” Carlos told reporters in a press briefing Wednesday.
Carlos said force multipliers nationwide were also deployed to provide assistance to the PNP-HPG personnel.
He also advised motorists traveling to the provinces to make sure that their vehicles are in good running condition to avoid inconvenience.
For instance, motorists should remember BLOWBAGETS, which stands for “battery, light, oil, water, brakes, air, gas, engine, tires — when checking their cars — and self or being physically and emotionally fit to drive.
They must also bring with them necessary documents of the car including its insurance certificate.
“Based on data, kadamihan ng nangyayaring aksidente is based on human factor so a big percentage of that is maling diskarte ng nagmamaneho, i-prepare nila ‘yung sarili nila sa mahabang biyahe (Most car accidents are due to human factor or wrong approach in driving. they should prepare themselves for the long period of travel.),” Carlos said.
“‘Yung mga driver naman po ng mga pampublikong sasakyan, siguraduhin na maayos ang pangangatawan para maging ligtas ‘yung paglalakbay ng manlalakbay (Public transport drivers should check the condition of their vehicles to ensure safe travel.),” he added. (PNA)
