How WomenBizPH and Globe Business are Empowering Female Entrepreneurs with Technology
Technology is a powerful tool that can help women entrepreneurs overcome the challenges they face in running and growing their businesses. That’s why Globe Business and WomenBizPH have teamed up to provide more “womenpreneurs” with the right business knowledge, tools, and innovations.
WomenBizPH is the lead private sector partner of the government, particularly the Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Commission on Women, and represents the Philippines in APEC and ASEAN events. They are also the Philippines’ “leading voice of women in commerce,” serving as the platform to facilitate discussions on women’s experiences in business and explore potential government policies and solutions.
Globe Business is the enterprise arm of Globe Telecom, one of the leading providers of digital solutions and innovations in the country. They offer a range of products and services that cater to the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including women-owned and -led businesses.
The two organizations officially sealed their partnership at the Women Lead Conference held in March 2023, during the International Women’s Day celebration. The conference featured inspiring stories and insights from women leaders in various fields, including Angeline Po, Product Marketing Head of the Globe Business MSME Group.
Po shared how she uses technology to balance her multiple roles as a woman leader, a mother, and a mentor. She also talked about how Globe Business and WomenBizPH will collaborate on various learning events and capacity-building activities throughout the year to empower more women entrepreneurs with technology.
One of these events is the Women Strong Network’s Hybrid Trade Fair, which will give women entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their products both online and offline. Another event is the Women 2 Women Summit, which will bring together women from different sectors and industries to network and learn from each other.
“Globe Business aims to support women entrepreneurs by addressing their unique challenges, including limited access to funding sources, operational hurdles, and lack of awareness for support networks and programs,” Po said. “Through awareness campaigns and access to networks and resources such as digital solutions and innovations, we aim to alleviate the hurdles and concerns that come with growing a business.”
The partnership’s vision is to support women in businesses to help them maximize their fullest potential as women entrepreneurs to reach broader and bolder business horizons through digital adoption and transformation.
Mylene Abiva, Chair of WomenBizPH, echoed this sentiment. She said, “As an advocacy group, WomenBizPH is an active force in looking for solutions to challenges that women in leadership and in business generally face. Furthermore, we seek to promote women-led and -owned enterprises through networking and through the use of technology.”
