House Members to Send Aid For Cebu City
House Members of the 18th Congress led by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano will send medical and health supplies to Cebu City to assist frontliners and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Aside from the mentioned supplies, a check of P1 million will also be donated to the city to help contain the said disease.
As of 5 p.m. of July 10, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 72 new COVID-19 cases in Cebu City making it a total of 7,246 confirmed cases, of which 3,240 are active, 3,650 total recoveries and 356 total deaths.
Cebu City is still considered as a hotspot for the pandemic in the country. However, Roy Cimatu is confident that the city will be downgraded to the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) on July 16.
“I am very optimistic that the ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) will be downgraded to General Community Quarantine by July 16. We just have to cooperate para hindi na magdagdagan ang rate of infection dito sa Cebu City,” he said.
The environment chief was assigned by President Rodrigo Duterte to oversee Cebu City’s response against COVID-19.
Health and medical supplies to be donated consist of 2,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs), 10 units of laptop, 200 pieces of non-contact infrared thermometer, 200 boxes of AD-C Plus vitamins, and other essential supplies.
Speaker Cayetano said that the House will guarantee to pass Bayanihan II also known as “Recover as One Act” and other measures to hasten the economic recovery of the country especially to places that were severely devastated by the disease. (MLC)
