House Committee on Transportation ‘Approves’ of Habal-Habal and Angkas
The House Committee on Transportation approves the legalization of Angkas and Habal-Habal after it was halted for months in a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) that was issued by the Supreme Court on December 2018.
The TRO that was issued followed a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) claim that Angkas and habal-habals violate traffic laws and should not allowed to continue its operation.
But in an official statement, Angkas claims that they have a safety record of 99.997% and should be a potential model for responsible traffic safety nationwide.
The continuing habal-habal and Angkas has found new a light after the Committee on Transportation approved the legalization of their operations.
Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña was happy to announce it on his official Facebook page today, January 25, 2019 and said it is a big step forward.
“Legalization of habal-habal / Angkas approved in principle by the House Committee on Transportation. This is a big step forward,” Osmeña said. (ASC)
