Hotel Elizabeth’s ‘Royal Run 2013’ Kicks Off Today
Hotel Elizabeth has set up its ‘Royal Run‘ for the second time around at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu today.
In last year’s, almost 2,000 runners participated. This year, more than 1,000 runners are expected to join. There are three categories: 5K, 10K and 21K.
Race Director Kenneth Casquejo said that this year’s ‘Royal Run’ is the most exciting especially for the 21K division since the runners will be challenged to run uphill.
Cash prizes are at stake, medals and plaque for the top placers in each category.
The run serves as a major fund raising project for the typhoon Yolanda victims in the Northern places of Cebu . A certain percentage of the proceeds of the event will also be donated to San Pedro Calungsod Fund and for the reconstruction of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

“Everyday we wake up from our comfortable bed and can have a cup of tea then we watch the typhoon victims on TV that they don’t have anything to eat… That is why we organized this…We really want to extend our help to those typhoon victims… The proceeds of the running event will go to them, to Pedro Calungsod Fund and CCMC… “, said Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Fernando.
Singlets, race bibs and some freebies will be given to the runners upon registration. Registration fee 21K was at P 450, 10K at P350 and 5K at P300.
Aside from the running event, the hotel organizer will also hold a raffle draw after the run. Each of the registered runners will receive a raffle entry upon registration. Gadgets and appliances await the winners.
Meanwhile, Casquejo during the press conference mid this week, expressed his hope and prayers not to experience bad weather on the event since the event was moved from its original November 10 schedule due to the super typhoon ‘Yolanda’. However this time, he determined than the run will push through rain or shine.
“The run will still continue…rain or shine!” said Casquejo.
