Based from the Presidential Proclamation No. 831, s. 2014 published in the Official Gazette, there are at least four (4) official holidays for the whole month of December this year.

December 24, 2015 Thursday is declared as a special non-working day in the entire country. It is an additional special non-working day for the Christmas celebration.

On December 25 Friday will be a regular holiday as it is the Christmas Day commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Another holiday will be on December 30 Wednesday as it is a Jose Rizal Day. The day commemorates the execution of Rizal who is the Philippine National Hero, at Bagumbayan, now known as Rizal Park, in the year 1896.

On December 31 Thursday, it will be the last day of the year and observed as a special non-working day in the entire country in addition to the New Year’s Day celebration.

Furthermore, on January 1, 2016 Friday, it will be a regular holiday in the country for the New Year’s Day celebration. There will be a long-weekend since January 2 and 3 will be a Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Regular work will resume on January 4 Monday. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P.
