Health and Wellness Organizers Size Up for Upcoming Wellness Festival
Along with the rising awareness on health and wellness in the community, many have joined the band wagon and are trying to keep themselves in good health. The number has grown of those engaged into different fitness activities including throwing to a balanced diet and exercise. Health and wellness companies have opened doors offering health products to supplement this cause.
With the aim to unite health and wellness advocates all over Cebu, Parkmall in collaboration with the Tai Chi for Health, has organized a 7-day event dubbed as “Health, Fitness and Wellness Festival” on September 23 to 29, 2013 in Parkmall West & North Lobby. The activity is in accordance with Parkmall’s second year celebration of its Wellness Program, sponsored by the Science of Identity Foundation and La! Veggie Deli Cafe.
The festival will showcase a stress management seminar, Tai Chi and Yoga exercises, entertainment, services and products on wellness among many others. All these activities are for free.
Highlighting the event though will be the vegetarian food fair slated on the last day of the festival. The food fair is a ticketed event wherein people can have a full-plate of vegetarian meal while watching a vegetarian cooking demonstration. The ticket is pegged at an affordable price of P100.
The one-week festival is open to all especially those health and wellness enthusiasts. “Yung hindi pwedeng umattend sa Festival ay yung mga taong ‘tamad’ lang (Those who cannot attend the festival are those lazy people only). Yung mga tamad hindi nila naappreciate yung exercise ng Tai Chi (Those lazy people cannot appreciate the exercise of Tai Chi) but this exercise are designed for all the people, anybody from 3 years old to 130 years old,” remarked Rene Araneta, organizer of Tai Chi for Health.
“This is also our social responsibility to be able to share our knowledge of Tai Chi. So far our festival last year was very (very) successful. The people who participated our Tai Chi and Yoga exercises every Sunday at ParkMall have enjoyed the activities”, added Araneta.
Tai Chi for Health is an organization that provides free Tai Chi and Yoga exercises every Sunday morning in ParkMall for four years. The organization aims to help combat diseases and illnesses as well as to promote well-being.
The success of their three-day wellness festival last year became the basis to extend the gala into a one-week fest this year with the intention to make it more fun-filled this year.
On Tai Chi, Araneta explained that the exercise has a similar principle with Yoga– controlling of breath.
“If you are practicing Tai Chi, you are actually inviting energy of the environment to you which is only the good energy from the environment. Ang nangyayari lumalakas ka at nagiging healthy ka din (what happen is you became stronger and healthy also) unlike aerobics, sa aerobics nag-eexert ka ng energy (you are exerting energy in aerobics).. That is why Tai Chi can lower the stress level of a person and develop the positive energy in the body of a person. In yoga, it is almost the same..You can be able to breathe properly. Yoga means union. It is also a type of oneness wherein a person develops peace, harmony and happiness and its oriental approach is Tai Chi”, he explained.
The festival organizers are inviting 26 wellness companies to join the event.
Tickets for vegetarian food fair are available at ParkMall’s customer service.
