Head’s Up, Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain Drop Surprise Acoustic Cover of Lil Jon’s ‘Get Low’
Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain seem to have delivered one of the year’s most surprising collaborations, teaming up for an acoustic cover of Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’s 2002 hit “Get Low.” The unusual duet, released under the moniker “Z-Pain,” quickly stirred buzz as fans reacted to the tech mogul’s latest venture into the music world.
The news first broke on Tuesday, November 12, when Zuckerberg posted a photo on his Instagram Story with T-Pain, captioned, “It’s happening guys.”
T-Pain followed with the same image, referring to Zuckerberg as “Z” and teasing fans with, “It is time…”
The duo’s rendition of “Get Low” stems from a sentimental connection for Zuckerberg. In an Instagram post announcing the release, the Meta CEO shared that “Get Low” holds special meaning for him and his wife, Priscilla Chan.
“The song was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party,” Zuckerberg wrote. “Every year, we listen to it on our dating anniversary. This year, I worked with @tpain on our own version of this lyrical masterpiece. Sound on for the track and also available on Spotify. Love you P ❤️,” he added.
The original version of “Get Low” was a major success, serving as Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’s breakout single. It peaked at No. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and topped the Hot Rap Songs chart. The song’s enduring popularity has cemented its place in 2000s hip-hop culture, making it an unconventional choice for an acoustic cover.
This partnership marks the next development of an unlikely friendship that has grown over the years, as Zuckerberg joined one of T-Pain’s Instagram livestreams in 2021, sparking curiosity among fans. (GFB)
