‘Habagat’ to Bring More Rains Over Ilocos Region

(PNA) — Ilocos Region will continue to experience a rainy weather Wednesday due to “hanging habagat” or southwest monsoon affecting the area, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The southwest monsoon continues to be the dominant weather system affecting the country, which is associated with the occurrence of intermittent to continuous rains and the prevailing wind system during the rainy season.

For Wednesday forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms is expected over the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan and La Union.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas.

The state weather bureau issued final gale warning — strong to gale force winds is weakening associated with the southwest monsoon as the seas will be moderate to rough — affecting the northern and western seaboard of Northern Luzon and western seaboard of Central Luzon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are alerted against moderate to rough seas,” the agency said. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
