Guv Relays Roxas’ Message
Governor Hilario P. Davide III spared time as Secretary Mar Roxas’s representative in various speaking engagements in Cebu lately.
The governor was one of the invited guests to give a welcome message to the participants of the Caraga Liga ng Barangay (LnB) Regional Assembly last September 3-5.
Davide failed to give his message personally due to his appointment with the media on Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) briefing. Provincial Board Member Celestino Martinez III delivered his message for him.
But the governor was given another opportunity to attend the event the following day to relay the message of Roxas, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government.
This is not the first time the governor acted on behalf for Roxas.
Last September 1, Davide also delivered the speech of Roxas in the 10th National Convention of City and Municipal Engineers Association of the Philippines.
In his message, Roxas said the Daang Matuwid is not only meant for the “cleansing of the government,” but also as passageway to a better future of every Filipino.
“This is Daang Matuwid – everyone given a fighting chance to achieve their dreams, everyone given an opportunity to enjoy an honorable and prosperous life due to their labors. An opportunity free from the thievery of unscrupulous officials, people free to follow the path that they want without having to compromise with corrupt leaders,” he said.
In his own press interviews, Davide said he wanted Roxas to “win big” in Cebu. He said he expected Roxas’ frequent visits in Cebu come campaign period.
Roxas was the anointed one of President Benigno S. Aquino as the Liberal Party’s (LP) Presidential bet in the 2016 election.
Senator Grace Poe, who was rumored to have mulled running for the top post, was also invited during the event but failed to attend.
Her colleague at the senate, Senator Teofisto Guingona III, and Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares were in attendance.
