GSIS INDEMNIFIES BOGO CITY

GSIS Cebu branch manager Ma. Fatima R. Alvarez (left) turns over a check worth P42.2 million to Bogo City Mayor Celestino E. Martinez Jr. (2nd from right) as settlement for the damage of the contents installed inside the New Bogo City Hall damaged by Typhoon Yolanda. This is the third settlement check paid to Bogo City, Cebu. Early last year, the city also received P31.7 million and 2.9 million for the damage of its New City Hall Building and contents installed inside its Roof deck respectively, both due to Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Under RA656, as amemded by PD 245, GSIS is mandated to insure all properties, assests and interest of the government againsy any insurable risk. The need to insure government owned buildings and infrastructure with GSIS has become a necessity due to calamities and unforeseen typhoons which may just strike anywhere.
