Group To Conduct Unity Walk In Support Of CCT Bill

Civil Society Organizations in Cebu spearheaded by Jesus Christ The Rock Of Refuge Foundation Inc. (JCTRORF) is slated to conduct a unity walk this February 6, 2016 from Fuente Osmeña Circle to Plaza Sugbo to drumbeat its support for the passage of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Bill.

The passage of CCT Bill into law will institutionalize the CCT program of the government that is currently implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s through its Pantawid Pamilyamg Pilipino Program.
According to JCTRORF Founding President Pastor Cristobal Encabo the unity walk is in line with the groups Cebu National Bible Week 2016 celebration with the theme “Hope for the Family, Strength of the Nation.”

“We have been facilitators of Family Development Sessions (FDS), one of the major conditionalities of Pantawid Pamilya and we are witnessed on how this program have helped improved the lives of our poor brothers and sisters,” he said.

Encabo disclosed that they have been partners with DSWD7 for the conduct of FDS since 2011.
“We facilitate FDS for free because we and the DSWD share the same mission that is to uplift the lives of the poor and needy, especially in times of calamity and disaster,” he stressed.

Pastor Edwin Kiamko, JCTRORF-FDS operations head for his part shared that their participation in FDS allowed them to help strengthen family values and spirituality by preaching the Gospel.

He also added that after the unity walk that will run from 5:00 to 7:00 in the morning, a short program will follow.

There will be testimonials of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries, 44 seconds noise barrage and signature campaign.
“The 44 seconds noise barrage represents the 4.4 million households who are partner-beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya nationwide,” Kiamko explained.

Other group that have committed to join the unity walk include the Young Life Foundation, People Power Volunteers for Reform and Change Politics Movement.

About 3,000 pastors, evangelist and beneficiaries are expected to join the event.
