Grand Bloodletting with Cebu Chamber

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in collaboration with the Department of Health – Regional Blood Center (DOH-RBC) -7,  Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Cebu Chapter and conveners will once again hold  a “Grand Bloodletting” on July 27, 2013. DOH RBC- 7 will hold the bloodletting at the Cebu City Sports Center while the PRC Cebu Chapter would simultaneously hold the event at University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue Campus.

For the record, the first Grand Bloodletting last year (on July 28) generated over 200 bags of blood from nearly 300 volunteer blood donors in
Cebu, which led to the recognition of CCCI’s notable contribution for  its advocacy on blood donation campaign by the Dept. of Health in Region 7.

Blood is a critical humanitarian resource which the World Health Organization (WHO) continues to advocate.  The WHO primarily leads in
global health matters like the “building of awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products”.  In the Philippines, voluntary blood donation has been institutionalized through R.A. 7719.

As the saying goes “the greatest wealth is health” thus, CCCI through its Health Committee actively supports the voluntary blood donation campaign of the DOH RBC-7 and the PRC – Cebu Chapter.
