Gov’t Info Officers Urged to Promote Tourism, Culture
Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office head Alphonsus D. Tesoro has called on officers and members of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO) to help in the promotion of tourism and cultural development in the province.
Tesoro, clad in polo barong that was hand woven and artistically designed by the indigenous people’s group Panay Bukidnon, was guest speaker of CAGPIO’s new set of officers and board of directors oath taking ceremony, June 21 at the Governor’s Mansion in Brgy. Lanot, here.
He started his discussion from his attire to emphasize that tourism is about storytelling and information officers’ expertise on it will greatly contribute in promoting the province as a tourist destination.
“It is nice to know behind the scenes stories as these are what tourists want to know,” he stressed.
Further, the province’s tourism czar also suggested for a familiarization tour of the group to the various tourist sites within this year.
“We don’t have a long stretch of white sand beach, grand waterfall and cone-shaped volcano but we have a little of everything that tourists look for,” he stressed, adding that a narrative behind these little things is important to make every tourist’s stay fun, memorable and meaningful.
The newly inducted CAGPIO officers are led by Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) public information officer Police Executive Master Sergeant Donna B. Asmod as chairperson from 2019 to 2021. (LTP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
