Good Weather to Continue in Next 3 to 5 Days — PAGASA
Manila (PNA) — Generally good weather will prevail in most parts of the country in the next three to five days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Fernando Cada said that until this coming weekend — except in extreme Northern Luzon — the rest of the country including Metro Manila will continues to have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
He said the effects of southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat,” the prevailing wind system during the rainy season, is still affecting extreme Northern Luzon thus occasional rains can be expected over Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands.
Meanwhile, Cada said they are now monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) located 1,850 km east of Luzon which is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
He said the LPA is expected to enter PAR by Friday but it will have minimal or won’t have any effect to the country for the meantime.
He added in the next 24 hours, the LPA has small chance to intensify into tropical cyclone.
But Cada said the weather agency continues to monitor and once it intensifies into a tropical depression inside the PAR it will be locally named “Kanor” the 11th tropical cyclone to enter country this year.
In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
