Good Habits

How can I develop good habits?

“Don’t you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master. You can choose sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God and receive His approval.” Romans 6:16

“Spend your time and energy in training for spiritual fitness. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8

Good physical habits—such as exercise, nutritious eating, and adequate rest—keep your body healthy and energetic. Godly habits—such as reading God’s Word, praying, and giving your time and resources to God—keep you spiritually healthy and energetic. Just as it takes time to kick a bad habit, so it takes time to develop a good one. The more you do it, the more natural it will become. Just as your body will become atrophied and sluggish without exercise and food, your spirit will dry up without a regular habit of meeting God every day through prayer and Bible reading that results to good habits. When you are spiritually shriveled, you can’t enjoy the mercy and blessings that come from a relationship with God.

“All athletes practice self-control. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:25
