Golda King Painting Exhibit: Home for the Lost

Finding your way home, a sense of belonging, these were the themes of artist Golda King’s solo art exhibit last October 19-30. There were 10 watercolor pointillism-influenced portraits in display at the Paseo Marina at Ayala Center Cebu. The overall colors were melancholic, nostalgic and filled with longing.

“My paintings rarely depict a specific person because I want it to speak to a universal human experience. They’re about a son longing for his father, mother listening to their children’s gleeful laughter. It’s about individuals finding their way home. It’s also about people who showed unwavering love and sacrifice. These portraits are deeply personal to me.” Golda King said.

Having lost her way before, all her portraits were deeply personal and intimate. She started painting 6 years ago when her mom prodded her to take up the brush when she was at the crossroads of what to do. Last October 24 was the ribbon cutting ceremony which was attended by the artist’s friends, family, art colleagues and teachers since it was King’s first solo exhibit in Cebu –there was preceding one in San Francisco. Simply, she had come full circle in her journey but she would not have done so without the help of the Rotary Club Fuente and iCanServe Foundation Inc.
