GMA Investigates Radio Anchorman Over Involvement in PDAF Scam

The GMA Network, Inc. has formed a three-member panel to look into reports that an anchorman of its radio DZBB is included in a reported government fund anomalous transactions.

Irish Joy P. Abarquez, GMA Corporate Communications Officer identified the said DZBB anchorman Melo Del Prado was reportedly listed as among the members of media who received funds from the National Agribusiness Corporation (NABCOR) which in turn came from PDAF scam suspect Janet Lim Napoles.

Abarquez said the investigating panel is composed of legal officers Ed Santos, First Vice President for Internal Audit, Lynn Delfin, Vice President for Legal Affairs, and Gerrome Apolona, Vice President for Human Resources.

Abarquez also added that the panel was instructed to be thorough and just in their investigation process because matters concerning the ethical and professional behavior as well as the credibility of anchor persons are of critical importance to the Network.

She explained that in an earlier statement, GMA had committed to conduct an impartial investigation while giving the assurance that due process would be followed.

The Network expects the results to be finished and announced within the next two weeks, said Abarquez.
