To enhance their grassroots program in developing world class football players, Giuseppe Football Club (GFC) infused two Italian coaches for their football clinic dubbed as “Adopt a player Football Clinic” at the Guiseppe Football Field.

The two former Italian players-turned-coaches were Nicolo Ferrante and Marco Cumbo. Both coaches are first-timers to train local players in Cebu.

The clinic opened on August 2 for kids aged 5 to 12 years old, and on August 3 for kids aged 13 to 17 years old. It will start at 8am until 11am.

The registration fee is P500 per child and includes a GFC Football T-shirt and certificate.

“For every player who registers, one player from Banilad Elementary School or Subangdaku FC will get the chance to join the clinic for free and if we see potential among these kids, we will recruit them in the club and train them,” said Rachel Genco, one of the GFC’s founders.

The clinic will serve as a new tool in the box for current players as well as other aspiring children who are dreaming of making it to the National Team or Professional League.

The GFC was formed in November 2005 by football moms Genco and Mylene Suarez. It started with eight kids, two footballs, one coach, shoes and a borrowed field.

After nine years, GFC already has 60 players, five licensed coaches and numerous titles to its name.

GFC strives to provide training to less fortunate children who have shown potential and interest in the football field.
