Gina Lopez Offered DENR Post

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte offered the post of Department of Environment and Natural Resources secretary to ABS-CBN Lungkod Kapamilya Foundation chairperson Gina Lopez.

“I offered the position of the DENR to Ms. Gina Lopez,” said Duterte.

Lopez was with Duterte when he made the announcement.

“I am honored with the trust given, this proposal, and I will seriously, seriously consider it,” said Lopez.

Lopez is known to oppose mining activities and coal-fired powerplants. She has campaigned against coal mining in Semirara Island, Antique.

She also headed ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya’s projects to clean up the Pasig River.
