The road to the 2019 FIBA World Cup officially begins for Gilas.

Coach Chot Reyes announced on Tuesday that a three-day national team training camp will take place just before the start of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

“Gilas campaign officially kicks off with 3-day training camp from March 14-16, with all members of the national pool invited,” Reyes said via Twitter.

In a later development, Reyes, who coached the 2013 team that took the silver in the FIBA Asia Cup and the 2014 team that saw action in the FIBA World Cup, said that the training camp will take place in a yet to be disclosed place outside Metro Manila.

While the camp will end a day before the start of the mid-season conference on March 17, the Gilas Cadets, as per an agreement between the PBA and the SBP, will stay with the national team practices.

The said training camp comes as an early preparation for the SEABA Championship on May 12-18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. (PNA)
