GCQ Areas to Reopen Cinemas on March 5
Cinemas and movie houses in areas under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) protocol will be allowed to reopen beginning on March 5.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through their Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 21-08 has allowed these public entertainment medium to reopen and operate, but only at 25-percent capacity.
Moreover, no food and beverages will be allowed inside the cinemas, and moviegoers are to be prohibited to eat and drink while viewing a film.
Face masks are also to be worn at all times inside the cinema or movie house. Standard minimum health protocols such as maintaining a-one meter distance on all sides will be strictly required inside cinemas.
While areas under GCQ will be able to operate at a 25-percent capacity, areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) may operate at a 50-percent capacity.
DTI’s MC No. 21-08 also allows the reopening and reboot of operations for different cultural institutions such as archives, cultural centers, libraries, and museums.
These institutions will reopen and operate at 50-percent capacity for GCQ areas, and 75-percent for MGCQ areas.
Entertainment centers such as video and game arcades, along with tourism catalysts such as theme historical landmarks, natural sites, theme parks, and parks in general will be able to operate at similar capacity with respect to an area’s assigned quarantine protocol, similar to cultural institutions.
