Galvanized Coils and Sheets Now Requires PS Safety Certification Mark
The Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Philippine Standards’ (DTI-BPS) Mandatory Product Certification Schemes has now listed galvanized coils and sheets as mandatory products for Philippine Standard (PS) Safety Certification Mark License.
DTI’s Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 20-10, series of 2020 requires manufacturers of said products, local and foreign, to secure a PS Safety Certification Mark License before the sale, distribution, and utilizing of products in the Philippines.
On the other hand, importers are required to source their products from foreign manufacturers holding valid PS Licenses only.
The department will also provide a New Technical Regulation Concerning the Mandatory Product Certification on said products.
Products covered by the regulation:
a) hot-dip metallic-coated steel coils and sheets intended for roofing and general applications
b) pre-painted galvanized steel coils and sheets for roofing, and general applications
Product not covered by the regulation:
a) steel products used as raw materials for the manufacture of automotive products, appliances, furniture, and electrical and electronics and hot-rolled carbon steel strips for pipes and tubes
DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez said that the regulation ensures the quality of steel products before they are manufactured, imported, sold, or distributed in the Philippines. (ASC)
