GABII SA KABILIN: Forging Peoples

Gabii sa Kabilin was a night of parading the rich Cebuano history and culture, were over 40 historical sites in the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Cebu and Talisay were showcased to the public last May 27, 2016.

It was the highlight of the successful, month-long celebration of colorful tapestry of Cebuano Heritage. Estimated to have over 5000 participants this year that were treated to theatrical plays, Cebuano songs, dances, performances of the traditional ‘balak’ and sampling of local delicacies. Antiques and artifacts were on display at the museums and historical sites included in the route like Casa Gorordo, Museo Parian and the Yap-San Diego House. Other sites that were part of the tour were the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño and Fort San Pedro where people can ride horse-drawn carriages to the Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum.

The Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple was also one of the sites where they shared the reclusive area to participants and gave them a taste of the serene life of a monk. While in Talisay City, a group of dancers welcomed guests to view the pill box that was used by the Filipino and American forces as a tunnel connecting Talisay and Minglanilla during World War II.
