Frontliners Urged to Get Booster Shot
Medical frontline workers are reminded by the Department of Health 7 (DOH 7) to get their booster shots.
DOH said that booster shots for medical frontliners are mandatory.
There are over 131,000 healthcare workers that are fully vaccinated as of October 12, 2021.
DOH also mentioned that most medical frontliners have to wait for the interval for their booster shot.
“You have six months since your primary series before you can get your booster doses. For Johnson and Johnson jabs, you have at least three months from the initial, single-dose,” DOH 7 chief pathologist Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said.
Loreche also reminded those who received the Sinovac vaccine as their primary dose to have Sinovac as their booster shot because this is a Homologous vaccine.
Homologous vaccines are administered as an additional dose from the same manufacture. For example, if an individual received Sinovac, the third shot will also be Sinovac.
Meanwhile, some vaccines can be heterologous, which means that they can receive any booster shot regardless of the primary vaccine. (ASC)
