This scenic town continues to lure local and foreign visitors to experience nature, adventure and culture.

The Sagada Municipal Tourism Office recorded a total of 160,398 foreign and local tourists for the year 2017 while from January to March this year, a total of 58,722 tourists have already visited the town.

For foreign tourists, French nationals top the list followed by Germans, British and Spaniards.

Mayor James Pooten said tourist arrival peaks in the months of April and May or during summer vacation.

He reiterated his appeal to tourists to register in the tourism office as soon as they arrive in the municipality to ensure their safety while going around town to explore and appreciate the beautiful tourist spots.

The “no guide, no tour” policy will be strictly implemented not only to assist the visitors in going around town but also to help in the monitoring of tourist sites, according to Pooten as he urged visitors and residents to keep tourist sites, pathways, and lanes clean.

In Sagada, one can go spelunking at the Sumaguing; visit the hanging coffins of Echo Valley and the St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church; go for a swim at Bomod-ok Falls; watch the sunrise at Kiltepan Viewpoint; trekking at Danum Lake, among other adventures.

DZRH correspondent Romy Gonzales who recently visited Sagada said he is amazed with the beauty of the place, and the energy it gives to visitors.

He advised that locals and visitors should take care of the environment of the municipality for domestic and foreign tourists to enjoy the beautiful sceneries. (EDT/JBZ- PIA CAR)
