Former Rebel Receives PHP65,000 Worth Of Cash, Livelihood Assistance From CLIP
A former New People Army (NPA) fighter received PHP65,000 worth of livelihood and cash assistance from the government’s Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) Thursday morning.
The event was held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, said 3rd Infantry Division public affairs office Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson.
The beneficiary was identified only as “Ruben” for security reasons.
Tiongson said the latter received PHP15,000 worth of cash assistance and PHP50,000 worth of livelihood assistance.
Usage of the money will be monitored by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and other concerned agencies.
Tiongson said “Ruben” was was one of the 67 former rebels who returned to the government’s fold in 2015 from Panay and Negros after realizing the futility of the armed struggle.
The 82nd Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col. Enriqueto Deocadez Jr. together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Iloilo facilitated the profiling of “Ruben” and the processing of pertinent documents for the livelihood assistance under the CLIP. (PNA) FFC/PFN
