Former Minglanilla Mayor Dies of Pneumonia, Organ Failure
Former Minglanilla Mayor and incumbent Councilor Eduardo Selma died of pneumonia at 4:05am Monday. He was 77.
Minglanilla Mayor Lani Peña said Selma was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City last Sunday after he complained difficulty in breathing. Upon check-up, it was later on found out that the former mayor was also suffering from organ complications.
Peña said the town hall’s flag is at half-mast in honor of their former mayor who served Minglanilla since he was appointed as its acting mayor in 1982.
Peña said he will convene the council this week to pass a post-humous resolution recognizing Selma’s contribution to Minglanilla.
Selma’s son, John, is the town’s vice mayor.
Meanwhile, Peña said Selma’s remains are brought to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes and will be transferred to a later date at the town hall for the public.
