Ford Philippines has brought its globally-recognized Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program to Cebu for the first time as part of its goal to cover key areas nationwide and reach more drivers to instill the importance of road safety.

Held at the Cebu Trade Hall in SM City Cebu, this DSFL session reinforces Ford’s commitment to safety. The Cebu leg of the DSFL was attended by over 200 participants composed of public utility vehicle drivers (PUV), Uber drivers, traffic enforcers, student drivers, and Ford customers.

Like its previous runs, the program had classroom training and actual driving sessions, which provided participants the necessary skills in vehicle maintenance, fuel-efficient driving, and most importantly, safe driving. Part of DSFL’s learning module this year is Distracted Driving to teach drivers the dangers of driving with mobile phones and other forms of distraction in support also of the recent implementation of Anti-Distracted Driving Law in the country.

“We have always valued road safety at Ford, so we’re happy to bring our DSFL program to Cebu mindful of the fact that there is a growing need to instill to drivers the importance of safe driving. We are hopeful that through this program, drivers will be able to understand the critical role they play in ensuring that our roads are safe,” said EJ Francisco, AVP for Communications, Ford Philippines.

DSFL is a United Nations-recognized training initiative that educates drivers about smart and safe driving to minimize road accidents and promote fuel-efficient driving. Driving Skills for Life sessions have been customized to reflect the driving environment and road conditions in the country. A specific focus of this year will be the inclusion of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers such as bus, jeepney, school bus, and taxi drivers, recognizing their critical role as motorists in ensuring that roads and passenger journeys are safe.

Now on its 10th year in the Philippines, the DSFL has trained more than 20,000 drivers around the country. Working together with long-time partner Tuason Racing School, Ford provides an immersive and interactive training experience in its DSFL sessions which have been customized to reflect local driving environment and road conditions in the Philippines.
