Five Easy Steps To a Flat Tummy by New Year’s
The all-star ingredients in fresh juice can combat the unpleasant side effects of holiday over indulgence. Here are five easy-to-do recipes of drinks that can aid shrink those bulging tummies!
1. Cranberry Lemonade
This drink is super easy and quick to make. Add a teaspoon of raw honey if it’s is too tart for you.
Ingredients: 1 cup filtered water, ¼ cup unsweetened cranberry juice and 1 teaspoon fresh squeezed lemon.
Directions: Mix all ingredients together and enjoy hot or cold.
Cranapple Juice
Ingredients: 3 red apples, of any variety, handful cranberries and 1 handful red grapes
Directions: Feed all ingredients through juicer.
Cranberry acts as a natural diuretic by flushing excess liquids from your body. You can make a Cranberry Lemonade.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar Concoction
Raw apple cider vinegar helps promote optimal digestion and encourages the growth of healthy bacteria in our bodies. You only need one tablespoon a day to prevent bloating. As an anti-bloat elixir, try this for a quick fix.
Ingredients: 2 cups filtered water, 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar, Tbsp chia seeds and tsp raw honey
Directions: Let chia seeds soak at least 30 minutes. Then whisk all ingredients together.
3. Coconut Spinach Smoothie
This smoothie contains a heavy dose of potassium to bring down bloat in a hurry.
Ingredients: 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 banana, preferably frozen, 1 cup cucumber, peeled, and cubed, ½ cup pineapple chunks, fresh or frozen, 1 cup coconut water and ¼ cup fresh squeezed orange juice
Directions: Mix all ingredients in a blender. Potassium helps flush excess sodium out of your cells. Bananas, spinach and coconut water are all high in potassium.
4. Pina Colada Smoothie
This delicious smoothie helps bloat and inflammation with the powerhouse combination of pineapple, banana and coconut water.
Ingredients: 1 orange, peeled, 1/3 cup coconut water, 1 banana, 1 cup pineapple chunks, frozen or fresh and a handful of spinach to add even more potassium and increase the nutritional value (optional).
Directions: Blend all ingredients in a blender. Add ½ cup ice if the pineapple chunks are fresh.
Pineapple contains bromelain, which is a natural anti-inflammatory. When eating too many salty foods, you can wake up with a puffy face. To restore natural beauty and banish the extra puff, try a juice with pineapple.
5. Ginger Lime Shot
Ingredients: 1 tsp fresh grated ginger and 1 tsp fresh squeezed lime juice
Directions: Mix the two together and drink immediately after a large meal.
Ginger, which contains a protein digestive enzyme, can help dispel gas and calm your digestive system.
