First Tech4ed in CV Opens in LTO-7 Office
The first-ever “Tech4ed”, or Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development has opened its first platform outlet inside the Malasakit Lounge of the Land Transportation Office Central Visayas (LTO)-7 Regional Office in N.Bacalso Ave, Cebu City on Tuesday, December 3.
Tech4ed is an education platform by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) where it provides access to information through digital aspects. It also promotes opportunities and development for people who can’t have a decent education mainly because of poverty.
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the turnover between officials of DICT and LTO also took place. Five computer sets were turned over to be used for free by anyone who wishes to.
“Kani siya nahimong portal sa mga skills or maka aquire ang tao ug information for free. Nalipay mi kay sa among nasabotan 3 ra unta ka computer but karon ilang gihatag kay 5 ka brand new sets sa computer (This program serves as a portal for skills and for people to acquire information for free. We are so happy because we only agreed to have 3 computer sets but luckily we got 5 computer sets),” said Vic Caindec, Regional Director, LTO-7.
People who wanted to use Tech4ed can create an account (if you haven’t created yet) and register at www.tech4ed.gov.ph and can access different digital lessons like, farming and agriculture, web programming, health information, skills development and many more.
“Sa karon nga panahon, information is power ug atong gihatag ang power balik sa katawhan. Nindot kaayo ni siya nga programa kay makatabang sa tao ug access ug information (Nowadays, information is power. We wanted to give back that power to the people. This is a very nice program since it can help people access information for free),” Caindec told MCN.
Caindec also revealed that for now, the operations of the Tech4ed in their office will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is subject to change if the demand is high.
He also invited everyone to maximize the government’s portal for free information.
“Sa kadtong gusto mag tuon diri ali lang mo, aircon na libre pa (For those of you who wanted to study and concentrate (I’m inviting you here in our office, it’s air conditioned and it is absolutely free),” Caindec said. (MLC)
