Firecrackers Injuries Decrease by 35% — DOH
The Department of Health (DOH) has released a report on fireworks injury where it showed a 35% decrease.
This year’s fireworks-related injury is 71% lower than the five-year average of 403 cases from 2014-2018.
There were only 164 fireworks-related injury reported this year compared to 251 cases last year.
The National Capital Region led the regions with the most cases with 84 fireworks-related; Manila (27), Quezon City (19), Mandaluyong (9), Marikina and Las Piñas (7 cases each).
CALABARZON has 13 cases, Ilocos Region (12), Central Luzon (11), Cagayan Valley and Western Visayas (10 cases each).
Piccolo, kwitis, luces and fountain were the fireworks with most causing injuries.
Meanwhile, 36 cases were recorded by the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH)-7.
Cebu topped with 26 cases.
However, this year’s case is 24% lower than last year. (MLC)
