Fire Set Ablaze Sitios Sto. Niño, Kauswagan
Sitio Kauswagan, Brgy. Basak Pardo, Cebu City and Sitio Sto Niño, Kinasang-an Pardo, Cebu City were scorched by a fire last July 27, 2018.
Fire trucks rushed to the location after fire alarm was received at around 9:50 in the evening, but had a hard time penetrating the area due to narrow roads. Most of the fire trucks were deployed at the northbound side of N. Bacalso Ave. which caused heavy traffic in the Basak-Pardo area.
At 10:40 pm, the alarm was raised to Task Force Alpha to send more firefighters to help putting out the fire. After more than an hour the fire was declared under control.
According to Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) chief Nagiel Bañacia, 127 houses were burned by the fire, displacing 221 families.
The estimated cost of damage caused by the fire is about P1M The cause of the fire is yet to determined by fire investigators. (Aljun Cainghog)
