Fire Razes 100+ Houses in Hipodromo

A Fire burned down 115 houses in Sitio Cahipa, Brgy. Hipodromo, Cebu City on Thursday September 27, 2018.

Cebu City fire department received the alarm at around 3:10 in the afternoon. Firefighters rushed to the burning residential area in the said sitio.

The alarm was raised to task force alpha at around 3:40 P.M. to suppress the fire and at around 4 in the afternoon the fire was declared under control.

According to Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Head Nagiel Bañacia, as of 6:52 p.m. on thursday, 193 families with 861 individuals lost their homes and are currently evacuated in Hipodromo Basketball Gym and Hipodromo Elementary School.

No casualties were reported in the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by fire investigators as of now. (Aljun S. Cainghog)
