Filipino Muslims to begin Ramadan Observance on June 18
On Thursday, June 18, Filipino Muslims will begin observance of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan.
GMA News Online reported that an article on ramadanmonth.com indicated the holy month is “estimated” to start on June 18 in most countries. During this month-long activities of fasting and prayers, Muslims abstain from eating during daylight hours from dawn to sunset, reports said.
In Islam, The Quran was sent down from heaven during this time of year for gradual revelation by Jibreel (Gabriel) to prophet Muhammad.
