Filipina British Actress Rachel Grant Sells Photos Online to Help Build Evac Center in Pangasinan
(PNA)— Filipina British actress, Rachel Grant, who starred as “Peaceful Fountains of Desire” in the James Bond movie, “Die Another Day”, and in many other movies, is selling her photos online to raise funds for a typhoon-shelter and school in a community here.
In an interview with her through Facebook, Grant said the project began when she visited the community called “Fountain of Love” in the hillside of Bani.
Grant, whose mother was from La Union but as a child was a frequent visitor to the Hundred Islands, was in Alaminos City in 2013 and in Bani town in January this year. She is currently living in London, England. Her father is related to England’s royal family.
“The 600-resident community had many children and no school. I had also learned the community had all survived the eye of a typhoon and there was no evacuation center for them. So I pledged to build something to help them. I have been fundraising for the life-saving typhoon shelter and school in Bani, Pangasinan for a while and we have so far completed the bottom floor of the building only”, Grant said.
She admitted donations have been slow lately thus she decided to have an online sale of her photos with her own personal message and autograph. The costs of the photos were directly given to the project through the Padua Charitable Fund, a British-registered charity founded by her Filipina mother Isabel Padua-Grant with her Padua cousins in London in 2007 to help underprivileged communities in the Philippines.
Grant is a patron of the charity who helps coordinate projects and raise fund for their family’s charity.
“When someone purchases a photo the payment is directly paid to the charity’s PayPal account. I have also offered to cover the cost of all photos’ shipping cost to anywhere in the world to say thank you. I’m hoping to raise around 00 over 2 months and in just 5 days the response has been good with almost 00 already donated to the charity through photo sales”, Grant said.
The photo sale is advertised in Grant’s Facebook account while the link of the photo sale page is in her travel website, www.rachelgrant.tv/shop.
Grant also offers a promo wherein buyers get 25% off upon purchase of more than one photo, each 10×8 photo costs while the shipping fee in any part of the world is free.
She said the charity group also accepts material donations such as paints and cements from individuals or companies.
“It looks promising, we need some more donations. I am also willing to accept some materials from companies in exchange for their logo appearing on the structure and on our website”, Grant said.
Last year, Grant did a photo shoot for Jamaica building company in Pangasinan in exchange for a Php60,000 worth of cement to the school.
“I truly believe God is leading me on some sort of path with more tasks at hand. Whatever it is I’m very grateful for the journey and to meet so many inspiring people along the way”, said Grant. (PNA) CTB/LVM/HMA/RMA
