Fifteen Towns, City in North Cebu Receive P116M RAY from DA-7

Department of Agriculture (DA) 7 Regional Director Angel Enriquez said fifteen municipalities and one city in the northern coast of the Cebu province received P116.4 million worth of Reconstruction Assistance for Yolanda (RAY) last July 9, 2014 in the town of San Remegio.

Enriquez said that RAY is a government program designed to provide assistance on the recovery of the economy and livelihood of the affected farmers and fishermen in northern Cebu.

Enriquez explained that DA Undersecretary for Operations Emerson Palad, together with 4th District Representative Benhur Salimbangon, turned over 5 units of farm tractors worth P11 million, 20,780 bags of urea fertilizers (P25,044);5,500 bags of hybrid corn seeds (P19,294,500);38,000 pieces of grafted mango seedlings and 79 bags of rice seeds (P94,800).

Enriquez stressed that the recipients were mayors and other representatives from the Yolanda-affected areas in the northern coast.

They identified the recipient 15 towns and a city of the reconstruction assistance, as Tudela, Tuburan, Tabogon, Tabuelan, Sogod, Sta. Fe, San Remegio, San Francisco, Poro, Pilar, Medellin, Madredejos, Daanbanatayan, Bantayan, and the City of Bogo.

Enriquez also said that the certificates of turn over was also handed to the recipient mayors and other representatives by USEC Palad and Rep. Salimbangon duly signed by her and DA Secretary Hon. Proceso Alcala.

The DA officials also thanked the farmers and LGU officials for their cooperation in the Yolanda reconstruction efforts.
