FEU Tamaraws Fight Against SWU Cobras
Southwestern University (SWU) beat Far Eastern University (FEU), 74-71, to win the exhibition game at the Aznar Colliseum last Wednesday.
In the first and second quarter, SWU and FEU ended with a score of 16-13 and 37–29, respectively.
SWU remained ahead during the third quarter in spite Jasper Parker tripped after an assist causing him to take a break putting Jovanie Luz as substitute; the third quarter ended a score of 57 – 47 with SWU on the lead. The fourth quarter suspense increased during the remaining two minutes (2:22) when Francis Tamsi of FEU tied the score of 68 – 68, but still FEU fells with 74 – 71 in favor of SWU.
In an interview, FEU head coach Nash Racela said they came with an objective to improve their game. SWU and FEU worked both ways, and he thinks they’ve achieved their objectives.
“We’re two weeks from UAAP – yun talaga ang pinaghahandaan namin”. He added.
Yayoy Alcoseba, SWU head coach said he is happy for winning the game and, they are preparing for CESAFI opening on August 2.
Basketball enthusiast including students witnessed the game. They also happen to meet and greet Manila-based FEU players. Five of the 18 FEU Tamaraws were Cebuanos. They are Joel Christian Lee Yu, Roger Ray Pugoy, Arnie Padilla, Ron Marvis Dennisson, and Reeve Ugsang.
