With typhoon victims dazzled on how to survive the aftermath of Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in the greatly affected Tacloban City, Far East Broadcasting Corporation (FEBC) sets up a broadcasting facility in the city, providing critical information to help the people survive the crisis, and take care of their spiritual and psycho-social well being as well through the radio broadcast.

“For those of you who can get in touch with friends and loved ones in Tacloban, tell them to tune in to 98.7 on the fm band for news and information to help them at this stage of the crisis,” says in FEBC Radio’s FB account page.

Dubbed as 98.7 FM “The Voice of Hope in the Midst of Calamity”, the emergency radio broadcast started airing in Tacloban City at 9:40 a.m. yesterday.

Aside from its live broadcast, the FEBC team will also distribute solar powered radio sets to the people in Tacloban. With limited manpower as a challenge as of the moment, the team is starting with Tacloban City ahd hopes to reach to the other typhoon-stricken areas.

Last November 13, the radio network’s First Response Emergency Radio Team was deployed to Tacloban to set-up a low-power FM station in the city. (Adapted by RSC)
