Fair Weather Seen on Thursday Due to Easterlies

The public will experience warm and humid weather due to easterlies or warm air from the east as it continues to be the dominant weather system affecting the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday.

In its advisory, PAGASA said easterlies now affecting the eastern section of the country.

With the presence of easterlies, the whole country including Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rains mostly due to localized thunderstorm or convection.

The chances of isolated rains are high in the areas located in the eastern section of the country since it is affected by the easterlies.

The easterlies or winds from the east are “warm,” convective activity brought about by its intense heat that triggers the formation of localized thunderstorm clouds due to its “rich in moisture” quality.

PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.

The state weather bureau issued final gale warning as the northeast monsoon weakened and the sea condition would be moderate to rough due to strong to gale force winds expected to affect the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
