Fair Weather Seen In Most Parts Of PHL Thursday
The country will continue to be storm-free for the next two to three days days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Shelly Nonot said the agency is not anticipating any cyclone to affect the country until weekend.
However, she said PAGASA is still expecting zero to one tropical cyclone to affect the country for the month of January.
The first tropical cyclone to affect the country this year will be locally named “Ambo”.
Meanwhile, she said fair weather is seen in most parts of the country with two weather systems now affecting the archipelago — the northeast monsoon affecting Northern Luzon and tail-end of a cold front now prevailing over the eastern section of Southern Luzon.
For Thursday forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms is expected over Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon and Northern Samar while cloudy skies with light rains will be experienced over the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and the rest of Cagayan Valley while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning as fisherfolk are safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
