Face Masks No Longer Required in Cebu City
Cebu City is now mask-free after Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama signed today, August 31, 2022, Executive Order (EO) No. 5 making wearing face masks no longer mandatory in the city.
This decision came after the downtrend of COVID-19 cases and the increase in the number of vaccinated individuals in the city.
According to EO No.5, wearing face masks is no longer required in outdoor and open spaces within the city.
The EO also covers indoor establishments such as malls, groceries, etc., however, these establishments are given the discretion to opt to require the wearing of face masks inside their establishments.
Moreover, according to Rama, schools in Cebu City are free to follow the City’s EO, but they still have the discretion whether they continue to require wearing face masks on their premises.
Meanwhile, wearing facemasks in hospitals, clinics, and other medical or diagnostic facilities remains mandatory according to the EO.
Additionally, persons who are immuno-compromised, sick, or have flu-like symptoms are required to wear a face mask, however, they are urged to stay at home and seek medical help.
Moreover, people are still free to wear a face mask if they wish to.
The EO also urges everyone to have a “shared responsibility” in promoting health and safety. (ASC)
