Experiencing Philippine Art

An artwork definitely paints a thousand words.

The VisMin Collectives is the first art exhibit organized by the finalists and winners from the Visayas and Mindanao that participated in The Philippine Art Awards.

The Philippine Art Awards is a nationwide biennial competition which serves as a venue for artists all over the country to showcase their talents through different mediums. Through the years, with more or less fifteen thousand competition entries, the Philippine Art Awards has preserved its standing as the Philippines’ most contemporary art competition today.

Fourteen of the participating artists from different parts of Visayas and Mindanao gathered in one night to unite and exhibit their latest works, among them was Javy Villacin. He featured his artwork “Center Wings of an Angel #3”. He mentioned that all his artworks looked the same because he wants his work to be consistent in the theme that it carries. It was abstract and that is his trademark. Javy Villacin was one of the top 10 Winners for the Visayas Region, Philippine Art Awards last 2007.

Jericho Vamenta was also present during the exhibit. He had two featured works, “Tagay” and “Imposture.” Both of the artworks carried the theme of domestic and personal issues. Jericho Vamenta, a local of Cagayan de Oro City bagged the much coveted Grand Prize plum at the Philippine Art Awards last year.

VisMin Collectives does not simply want to showcase the local talents that we have here in our country, but also change the way art is being judged by people in our society.

Experience a world-class art exhibit and visit The Qube Gallery, Persimmon Plus, MJ Cuenco Avenue, Mabolo, Cebu City. The exhibit will run until May 31, 2013.
