Expect Rains in Parts of Luzon Due to LPA — PAGASA
Manila (PNA) — The low pressure area (LPA) hovering inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will continue to induce rains in eastern part of Luzon on Thursday, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that as of 4 a.m. the LPA was spotted some 115 km east of Casiguran, Aurora (16.4°N, 123.2°E).
He said the LPA has slim chance to intensify into tropical depression but the agency continues to monitor it.
Aurelio said the LPA will bring cloudy skies, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Camarines, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.
He added that fair weather or partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Aurelio said the weather bureau continues to monitor the typhoon Halola (international name) outside the PAR but a has slim chance to enter the PAR.
Once it enters the PAR it will be locally named “Goring” the seventh tropical cyclone to affect the country this year.
In its advisory, PAGASA said moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southeast to south will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau has not issued a gale warning as fisherfolks are safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
