Exhibit To Fight To Human Trafficking Opens
In a creative expression to raise awareness to combat human trafficking, a photo exhibit is held in the lobby of the Cebu City Hall’s Legislative Building.
The exhibit featured at least 12 pictures of multi-awarded photojournalist Vicente Jaime “Veejay” Villafranca dubbed as “Deeper Scars” which is a collection of true-to-life stories about human trafficking in the Super Typhoon Yolanda affected areas such as Tacloban, Ormoc and Cebu.
Aside from raising awareness and prevention of the deviation, the project highlights the need for recovery and reintegration assistance to the victims of human trafficking, not only in the form of livelihood support but also through psychological support to the victims, their families and their communities.
The exhibit which opened this Monday morning the First day of February is spearheaded by the International Organization for Migration – Philippines in collaboration with the Cebu City Inter Agency Council Against Trafficking in Persons or CCIACAT.
The exhibit is open not just to the Cebu City Government employees but to the general public as well who are encouraged to sign their commitment to help fight human trafficking.
Brochures and foldable fans which serve as information and education campaign materials containing relevant data about the advocacy are also up for grab on a first come first serve basis. The exhibit runs for 5 days ending on February 5 this year. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
