The Dancesport Team Cebu City Training Center has the credentials to offer the dance camp as it has produced numerous winners in dancesports competitions. The group has placed Cebu on the dancesport map when it was recognized by the Guinness World Records for setting the record for the world’s largest dance class; which was included in the Guinness Book of World Records 2011 edition.
Dance turned into a genuine sport at the beginning of the 20th century when French businessman Camille de Rhynal and a group of dancers started holding dance competitions. However, the first Tango tournament with participants from different countries was held in 1907 in Nice, France. But it was not until 1936 when couples from 15 countries and three continents competed in real inaugural world championship that was held in Bad Nauheim, Germany.
The World Olympic Committee has recognized dancesport as a real sport but it has yet to include dancesport among the Olympic games.
